JESSICA CLAXTON
PROFILE:
I was born into a sport-loving family with siblings who regularly attend National Swimming Championships. Initially I was a competitive swimmer where I gained podium positions in 2010 and 2011 at the Western Australian (WA) State Swimming Championships. I also enjoy cross country running where I have achieved gold and silver medals in the WA State Cross Country Championships.
I competed in my first triathlon in 2011 at the School Sport WA Triathlon Championships and was selected for the State team. From here I decided to pursue triathlons and have since competed in fourteen National Triathlon and four National Cross Country competitions. I have represented Western Australia for School Sport in both Cross Country and Triathlon on nine occasions (2012-2016).
This last year I was School Sports Captain where I demonstrated a leadership role, mentored other students and organised teams for a variety of sports. I believe in setting a good example by being positive, focused, working and training to the best of my ability and demonstrating good sportsmanship at all levels.
I am a fun-loving person, respectful, dedicated and committed to my training regime for triathlon where I train under the guidance of Stuart Denton (Level 2 Performance Triathlon Coach) and I run with Matthew LaSpina (Level 2 Long/middle distance Coach). I have been featured in several local newspaper articles and radio interviews following my achievements at National level.
The Triathlon Australia High Performance (TAHP) leadership team have categorised me in the Talent category for 2015/16 based on the TA Athlete Categorisation Nomination Policy and will closely monitor my race performances and progression.
